Aquamarine

Aquamarine is found in Brazil, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, and other countries.
It is always a pastel blue but the darker the color, the more valued it is. Aquamarine was also said to have a soothing influence on land, especially on married couples. Its power to help husbands and wives work out their differences and ensure a long and happy marriage makes it a good anniversary gift. Aquamarine also protects against the wiles of the devil. A dream of aquamarine means that you will meet new friends.

Aquamarine is the birthstone for for the month of March & anniversary gemstone for the 19th year of marriage.

Aquamarine, birthstone for March, derives its name from "sea water". Aqua (water) sparkles like the sea and its color is light to medium blue, sometimes with a slight greenish splash. According to some legends, it is the treasure of mermaids, with the power to keep sailors safe at sea. Aquamarine is said to be a particularly strong charm when immersed in water (which is a good thing, since that is when sailors need its power most!)

Amber

Amber is a very light stone made from the fossilized resin of trees. Amber is usually ranges from yellow to orange. Some amber has been found with red, green, blue, violet, and black hues. Amber often has inclusions such as air bubbles, insects or pine needles from the way it is formed.

Amber is said to be the "good luck" stone bringing the purifying, revitalizing force of the sun and the absorptive, transmuting energy of the earth together to create a powerful tool.

Do not use alcohol to clean amber.

Amethyst

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and is a popular gemstone. The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek and means "not drunken." This was maybe due to a belief that amethyst would ward off the effects of alcohol, but most likely the Greeks were referring to the almost wine-like color of some stones that they may have encountered. Its color is unparalleled, and even other, more expensive purple gemstones are often compared to its color and beauty. Although it must always be purple to be amethyst, it can and does have a wide range of purple shades.

Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence (it obviously worked pretty well for him!)

Amethyst ranges in color from pale lilac to deep purple. The pale colors are sometimes called "Rose de France" and can be seen set in Victorian jewelry. The deep colors are the most valuable, particularly a rich purple with rose flashes.

Carnelian

Carnelian is usually ranges from bright orange to reddish orange. The shades of red are due to iron oxide. Carnelian is said to be the stone of ambition and drive. It inspires a positive courageous confidence, motivates, activates and energizes personal power, revealing hidden talents. It is said to help asthma, and blood pressure.

Citrine

The word "citrine" comes from an old French word, citrin, meaning yellow. Citrine is a quartz crystal, which varies in color from pale yellow to deep amber.

Citrine’s metaphysical properties are thought to include stimulating one’s mental capacities, enhancing creativity and intuition and bolstering self-confidence. It is believed to inspire warmth, prosperity and ease. It’s further thought to help self-realization and personal goals to work together in harmony. According to legend, citrine protects against snake venom and evil thoughts

Citrine is said to be helpful in removing toxins from the body and is used by some to treat muscular disorders and stimulate healing in general. It’s believed to help ailments of the heart, kidneys, liver and digestive system. It is used for relief from the effects of radiation and to help the body absorb antioxidants.

Emerald

Emerald is a beryl, a mineral that is normally colorless. Emerald's rich green color is caused by minute traces of chromium. Chromium is the rare Midas element of gemstones: its presence also gives rubies their firey redness. Crystals of emerald grew long before human history in metamorphic rocks, which usually restricts the size of emerald crystals, making them even rarer in large sizes.

Because the rich green color of emerald is the color of spring, the ancients prized it as the gemstone symbolizing love and rebirth. Treasured for at least 4,000 years by different cultures all around the world, emerald is said to quicken the intelligence as well as the heart. Legend gives its owner the gift of eloquence.

Garnet

Garnets are any of a group of semi-precious silicate stones that range in color from red to green (garnets occur in all colors but blue).
Garnet is called the stone of devotion, to others, to self, and to one's aim. It awakens the "inner fire" of creativity and provides regeneration and balance.

Garnet is found in Africa, Brazil, Canada, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the USA (Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Virginia).

Clean garnet with a dry soft cloth. As with all gemstones, care should be taken to protect it from scratches, sharp blows, harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures.
